A review of Service Family Accommodation furniture has resulted in an update to Furniture policy. Furniture policy changes will be published in policy in March 2025, for implementation from 01 September 2025.
About the UK SFA Review
Accommodation Policy have led the Furniture Review and worked with stakeholders to look at what items of furniture should be provided into family homes and how this is scaled to the different type of SFA properties we have within the estate. Evidence gathered through research was used in the analysis of existing furniture usage.
The review has focused on themes provided by Service personnel, the Furniture Review will take these forward to progress change. Some with the initial change to policy and future refinement of systems and processes.
The first changes will be:
- Newly published revised scale of furniture items
- New scoring calculation for each SFA types.
- Get you in packs (GYIP) to be focused on first time users of SFA and for families moving or returning from overseas.
With future aims looking at the way furniture moves with families and the way families request items.
