Public alert system testing 23rd April 2023 at 3pm:
A siren like emergency warning message will be sent by the UK Government to mobile phones/tablets users across the UK on 23rd April at 3pm, to test a new public alert system, alerts will appear on the home screen accompanied by a loud warning sound and vibration. Gov Alerts.
Emergency alert phone settings
Some victims of Domestic abuse be living with their abuser may have a safety phone/device secreted in the home, whereby this test may alert the abuser of the existence of such a device.
Users will be unable to use their features on their devices unless they acknowledge the alert, due to be sent. The only method to stop this message from coming through on the device will be to change their settings, as the message will still come through if the phone is on silent.
