Physical Health and Wellbeing by Wg Cdr Sharon McMillan (SO1  Wellbeing & Resilience)

During and beyond the times we currently find ourselves in, the combination of a healthy lifestyle and wide and varied range of exercise interventions and nutrition advice can improve your mental and physical resilience and overall quality of life. Health is influenced by health behaviours, and specifically physical activity levels, dietary behaviours, alcohol consumption and smoking habits.

Public Health England Health Promotion Resources.  Public Health England offer a comprehensive range of free resources to help promote healthy lifestyles .

These include guides on:

  • eating well
  • becoming smoke-free
  • drinking less
  • moving more.

Moving and exercising regularly

PTIs from the RAF Human Performance have put together a series of fitness videos which can be carried out in a small space at home.

The RAF Central Fund has announced a new partnership with LES MILLS™ On Demand which offers all serving RAF personnel 60 days free access to their online fitness solution plus a special discounted rate for those wishing to continue their membership beyond this period.  In light of the Covid-19 pandemic, this offer will help keep serving personnel fit and active as Station gyms are temporarily closed and RAF Sport is put on hold.

Further information

As well as the current Coronavirus advice and guidance, the RAF FF’s website provides a good reference section on all things health-related. You can also sign up to our (free) weekly eBulletin and/or quarterly Envoy magazine to keep yourself up to date generally with updates and information on new initiatives as they go live. Image
