Little Troopers affirmation cards

Thursday 10th February 2022

Charity Little Troopers has created a new affirmations and mindfulness resource for military children and their families to use at home.

The Little Troopers Affirmation Cards are free to download from the charity’s website and feature 35 bright and colourful positive affirmations that families can print out and use as many times as they like. Some of the affirmations can be used every day, while others have been picked to support military children during more challenging times such as having a parent deployed or moving home and school.

The cards come with an information sheet written by mindfulness expert, Laura Howard, which explains how regular practice of affirmations can support wellbeing by encouraging positive thoughts and a sense of empowerment. The guide also includes a list of suggested activities to help families incorporate affirmations into everyday life such as carrying an affirmation around in your pocket, making an affirmations calendar or sitting down as a family and picking affirmations together.

Louise Fetigan, founder of Little Troopers, comments: “Our aim at Little Troopers is to provide families with simple tools that support the wellbeing of military children, whenever they need it and wherever they are in the world. The new Affirmation Cards are a great addition to these resources and we hope they help lots of military children realise just how special they are and how much they are loved and appreciated.”

The Affirmation Cards can be used by children and adults of any age. Phrases include “Thinking of you makes people smile”, “Always remember that you are so loved” and “You have got this you Little Trooper.”

The Affirmation Cards are one of a number of resources from Little Troopers that military families can use at home. Other resources include the Little Troopers Treasures free story recording app, the Little Troopers Separation Packs, the Little Troopers X-Ray of Feelings scenarios and the Little Troopers Gazette newspaper. The charity is currently in the middle of Fundraise February, a fundraising drive to help Little Troopers continue its work support the children of British Armed Forces personnel.
