The NHS is keen to employ both service leavers, veterans and family members from the Armed Forces community. This initiative is branded under the banner of ‘Step into Health’ and there’s an employment information event on 11th July at Sunderland City Hospital from 9.30 am.

This Step into Health event will provide the opportunity to find out more about the different NHS organisations in the region as well as the work experience opportunities, job vacancies and training which may be of interest. It will also enable networking with NHS employers, partner organisations, employees and fellow service leavers.

So if you are interested in catering, maintenance, administration, finance, communications, management as well as one of the many clinical services – this event may well be worth a trip!

Case study

You can hear about what it’s been like for someone who already made the journey into working for the NHS. RAF Spouse (and veteran herself), Jane O’Brien is a Practice Educator for Dorset County Hospital and shared with Envoy magazine her story.

Step into Health

Developed in conjunction with The Royal Foundation and Walking With The Wounded, Step into Health provides a dedicated pathway for the Armed Forces community to access the numerous career opportunities available in the NHS.
