The RAF Association is working with Alzheimer’s Society to support RAF personnel who are affected by dementia. We are working together to understand how to support Royal Air Forces personnel in their unique situation, of caring for a person affected by dementia whilst serving in a remote location.
For this we are taking a fast paced, audience-led approach and will be using a creative innovation model to Learn, Investigate, Find, and Experiment (LIFE) within the context of this challenge. We anticipate a number of interventions to support these individuals will be developed from the project.
We are currently reaching the end of the Learn stage, which means that we have finished engaging with a number of key stakeholders about the issue. The next stage, ‘Find’, will involve working with our serving personnel who are affected by dementia. We want to better understand their ‘lived experience’ so that we can find new solutions to support them. Specifically:
· Serving personnel who are unpaid carers
· Serving personnel who are supporting an unpaid carer
· Partners of serving personnel who are unpaid carers
· Partners of serving personnel who are supporting an unpaid carer.
· Health and/or social care professionals who support the above.
