Health coach and X-Forces success story, Natalie Jackson, shares how attending the X-Forces 3 day self-employment course has helped her to take her business to the next level.
In 2020 X-Forces launched a brand-new training course designed exclusively for spouses, partners and family members from the Armed Forces community. The three-day course, lead by experienced Training Manager, Roger Cawte, takes a deep dive into the pros and cons of self-employment, puts business ideas under the microscope, and offers some top tips when it comes to marketing, finance and sustainability.
Here, X-Forces chat to Natalie Jackson, RAF spouse, also known as The Longevity Coach, about her recent experience on the course.
Hey Natalie, please could you talk about your experience on the 3-Day Spouses, Partners & Family Members course and what key advice/learnings you took away from it?
I absolutely loved every moment of it! When I first signed up, I wasn’t sure if it would be right for me because I was only just starting out and didn’t have much business knowledge, but as soon as we were introduced to the content and the structure of the 3 days, I knew I had made the right decision. The course was structured exceptionally well and into appropriate bite sized chunks that allowed you to digest the information piece by piece instead of it being too overwhelming.
The key pieces of advice that I walked away with were to protect your intellectual property and ensure that you believe in what you are doing! This is because if you can believe in yourself, you have the power and influence to demonstrate to others what your business can offer to the world! I felt really equipped to follow the steps of protecting my intellectual property and the importance of why this is essential in building a business.
That sounds great! What position were you in before attending the course and what position are you in now, several months afterwards?
Before joining the course, I had a vision of what I wanted my Health Coaching business to be, but I was stuck as to how to get it off the ground in a way that was professional and correct with regards to the legalities etc. Once I had completed the course, I immediately completed several steps and have moved forward leaps and bounds with my confidence and ticking the right boxes of building my business.
And finally, who would you recommend attends this course?
I found this course to be so useful that I instantly recommended it to a fellow spouse who was setting up her business and she immediately signed up! If you are thinking of starting a business, or if you have an idea, take this course to check off what you may have done already vs. what is still needed to be done. I learned so much through X-Forces Enterprise and they are so supportive and helpful. I found that I also built friendships and contacts that I still speak with regularly and it’s that extra feeling of support that is out there for you if you sign up.
XFE Founder and CEO, Ren Kapur MBE, said:
Developing and expanding the support we offer to the military spouse, partners and family member community has been a key objective for everyone here at X-Forces Enterprise. This community has so much to offer to the economy and the wider SME landscape, and ensuring they get the best information and support is crucial for their development.
On a personal note, it has been a tremendous experience supporting Natalie personally whilst she is based in the US with her husband – borders not a barrier! We wish Natalie the best of luck and we’ll be here to support her every step of the way.
