Go Ape with little troopeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Tuesday 19th July 2022

Applications open for Little Troopers first “All Together” event – a treetop adventure at Go Ape on Friday 29th July for military children whose parents are deployed overseas during the summer holidays.

The charity has arranged for 80 children to attend a GoApe adventure trail at eight different GoApe locations around the country.

The tree-top adventure is open to children aged 7-13 years. Families with siblings within this age group can apply for more than one space. The children will get to meet other little troopers who are also experiencing deployment over the summer holidays and together they will take on a treetop challenge, navigating tree-crossing, high rope activities, wobbly bridges and brilliant zip wires!

There are ten spaces at the following locations:

  • DalKeith Edinburgh
  • Dalby Forset Yorkshire
  • Thetford Forest Suffolk
  • Forest of Dean
  • Wendover, Chilterns
  • Alice Holt, Surrey
  • Moors Valley, Hampshire
  • Haldon, Devon

Families can find out more and apply here. Applications are only open until Wednesday 20th July and successful families will be notified in the same week.

Louise, Fetigan, founder of Little Troopers says:

“It can be really hard having a parent away over the summer holidays, so we thought now was the perfect time to bring some of our little troopers together to meet other children going through the same experience and to give them a fun day out.

“This is the first of a number of events that form part of our All Together deployment Club. The Go Ape experience will be followed by the first of two residential weekends for military teens in October. We’ll also have a series of online events starting in September 2022 with a Pineapple Dance studio session! A big thank you to The Veterans’ Foundation and The Henry Sale Foundation for supporting the project.”

The Little Troopers All Together deployment club aims to bring together children who have a loved one deployed, giving them the opportunity to meet with others in a similar situation, spend time together and access support during one of the most challenging times of Armed Forces life.

The project will support children of all ages with events currently planned until Spring 2023.
