Elective Home Education

For Service families considering educating their children at home, the Education Advisory Team (EAT, part of Defence Children Services) are able to provide guidance and advice on elective home education. The EAT can be contacted via email at: [email protected].

Elective home education in England

The Department for Education has published guidance on Elective home education for parents. It is non-statutory, and has been produced to help parents understand their obligations and rights in relation to elective home education.

Elective Home Education in the Devolved Administrations

  • The Welsh Government has produced guidance for parents and carers who are considering Elective home education for their child(ren) in Wales.
  • The Scottish Government have published Home education guidance for parents and local authorities on home education.
